Pictures of Iran Air Tokyo office
With a note
Our friend, F. Taghizadeh has sent these photos and has
written: On Monday , 7th of January, 2008, I visited the ticketing
office of Iran Air in Tokyo, after almost 24 years. I was warmly welcomed
by the only remaining member of the office "Mrs. Masako Liang", who
has been with IR for the past 33 years.
Although, my visit coincided with her official
working hours, and Japanese do not wish to have a break and attend a
non-official matter, nevertheless, she was kind enough
to spend few minutes, talking to me about good
old times. Iran Air's office is located in one of the best parts of
Tokyo which is called "AKASAKA". The office looked as gorgeous as before.
Without any doubt, we owe this prestigious office to the late founder of
"IRAN NATIONAL AIRLINES" Lieutenant General A.M. Khademi, who always cared
a lot for the pride, prestige and prosperity of Iran Air. Let us all pray
for his soul to rest in peace.
Festival of Deads
Fereidoon Taghizadeh:
Second week of August in Japan is known as "OBUN", or festival of
deads. This is a part of Buddhist philosophy that has been imported into Japan
from India, via China and Korean peninsula. People visit the graves of their
departed loved ones, and pay their respects and prayers to them, as they believe
that, their souls are waiting for them at the site of the grave. In some places,
people stand on the bank of a river, light a candle inside a lantern with the
names of their loved ones written on them. They gently release the lantern over
the surface of water to an unknown destination, till the flickering light of
candle dies out. For those who wish to learn about the origin of this culture, I
recommend them to refer to a reliable encyclopaedia, and check the
"ZOROASTRIANISM", and it's influence on other religions.

Festival in Japan
Fereidoon Taghizadeh:
While the whole Japan boils in the heat and
humidity of summer, all Japanese that includes children, young and old, dressed
in their old customs, gather in their communities and
dance to a loud and live sound of drum with a traditional music in the
background.

Sapporo Snow Festival
The Sapporo Snow Festival is one of
Japan's largest winter events. This well
known event, is normally held every February in Island of Hokkaido,
north of this country and attract around two million visitors from Japan
and abroad every year. Around 300 huge beautiful snow statues are
presented.
Recently, Homaie friend F. Taghizadeh, visited the
festival and brought interesting pictures, you will see as a slide show.
This
interesting picture and its caption is from the official site of the festival

The Palace of Darius I and the Gold Rhyton
The Achaemenid Dynasty, also known as Persian
Empire was blessed with prosperity. A world heritage site,
Persepolis was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire. The splendor
of the Palace of King Darius I in Persepolis still magnificently
stands before the visitors. The Golden rhyton, a very fine example
of a drinking vessel in the gorgeous Achaemenid period accompanies
the palace. It is displayed here made of ice on the center stage.
This large ice sculpture enhanced by illumination and music
invites you into the wondrous world of ancient Persia.
